Symptom guide First edition

The washer won’t spin

Separate a missing spin command from a machine that cannot complete an earlier stage.

Did the machine finish draining?

Follow the observed condition. Each branch identifies the next investigation, not a confirmed diagnosis.

When you find

Water remains

Start with the drain path. Record whether water leaves the machine, how quickly, and whether it returns. Spin may be withheld until the preceding condition is satisfied.

When you find

Tub is empty; cycle retries

Record the load, selected spin setting, leveling, and balance behavior. A reduced-speed finish is different from no drum movement.

When you find

Empty and permitted to spin

Use the exact service sequence to distinguish interlock feedback, drive command, wiring, and mechanical movement. Do not bypass the lid or door lock.

Make the evidence useful.

RecordWhat to captureWhat it can tell you
Cycle stateLast stage completed, displayed code, and selected program.A complaint about spin does not locate where the sequence first failed.
Load comparisonWhether the symptom changes with a suitable, balanced load.A change supports a load-dependent condition, not a universal motor diagnosis.
Drain evidenceWater level and observed drainage under the model procedure.A running pump sound alone does not prove adequate flow.

A fictional training washer drains normally but repeatedly redistributes one bulky item. The next useful comparison is a manufacturer-approved load, not an immediate control-board replacement.

Verify the result.

Confirm drainage and a normal spin with a representative load. Record the selected setting and any imbalance intervention.
